Can you feel enlarged thyroid?

My wife told me my neck looks a bit swollen, especially around the Adam's apple area. Wondering if this could be related to my thyroid. Is it possible to feel an enlarged thyroid by touching the neck, and what sensations might indicate it?

I completely understand how scary it feels when you notice a new sensation or swelling in your neck, it used to make me panic so much. Yes, you can sometimes feel a fullness or a lump in the front of your neck, especially when swallowing. Please don't worry, thyroid issues are very manageable once a doctor guides you.

Between back-to-back meetings, we rarely notice body changes, but a swollen thyroid can feel like a tightness in your collar or trouble swallowing. You might also notice a slight bulge in the front of your neck when you look in the mirror. Save your time from endless searching and just book a quick TSH blood test and thyroid ultrasound.

With my high BP, I have learned that all these metabolic systems are connected, so we must pay attention to neck swellings. An enlarged thyroid can sometimes feel heavy or make breathing feel slightly different when you lie down. Please get your thyroid profile and blood pressure checked regularly to stay on top of your health.

I have been living with thyroid issues for over eight years now. When my gland first enlarged, I felt a strange lumpiness at the base of my neck and my throat felt constantly constricted. Getting regular blood tests and adjusting my medication under an endocrinologist's guidance has kept it completely under control.

Honestly, my mom had this, and she first noticed it because her neck looked a bit thicker in photos, and her throat felt tight while wearing necklaces. It is actually quite common, but you should definitely see a doctor to get a proper neck palpation done. Don't worry, it's very easy to diagnose with a simple test!
