Can you drive after getting cavities filled?

I have an appointment next week to get a few cavities filled. I usually drive myself to appointments, but I'm wondering if I'll be able to drive home immediately after the procedure. Will the local anesthesia or the feeling in my mouth affect my ability to drive safely?

I have had many cavities filled over the years, and I always drove back home myself with no issues. The local numbing doesn't affect your ability to drive at all. Just don't try to chew anything until the sensation returns!

Yes, you can absolutely drive after a standard cavity filling. Just be careful if they used local anesthesia, as your mouth will be numb for a few hours. Avoid eating any hot or sugary foods until the numbness goes away to prevent biting your tongue.

Yes, it is perfectly fine to drive right after. It only takes about 45 minutes for a filling and you are good to head back to office. Just don't schedule any important client calls immediately because talking with a numb lip is hilarious and difficult.

I totally get it, dental visits can make you feel super anxious and shaky. If it was just normal local anesthesia, you are completely safe to drive. But if you feel too stressed or dizzy from the adrenaline in the injection, just sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes before driving.

You can drive, but honestly, trying to pay at the toll booth or talk to the parking guy with a completely frozen face is the real challenge. You'll be fine, just try not to laugh at yourself in the rearview mirror.

Arrey, of course you can drive, it’s just a cavity filling, not major surgery! Your legs and hands are working fine. Just don't drool on your shirt while driving because of the numb jaw.
