Can you drive a car after having a stroke?

My father suffered a stroke a few months ago, and he's been recovering slowly. He used to love driving and is very keen to get back behind the wheel. We're concerned about his safety and others'. How long after a stroke is it generally considered safe for someone to drive a car again?

Actually, you shouldn't jump back into driving immediately, yaar. A stroke can affect your reflexes and vision quite badly without you even realizing it. Better to get a proper clearance certificate from your doctor before touching the steering wheel.

My uncle had a minor stroke last year and he was desperate to drive again, but the family strictly stopped him for a few months. He had to go through rehab and get the doctor's green light. Definitely don't rush it, it's not worth the risk.

Please do not take any risks with driving after a stroke. It is incredibly important to get a complete neurological evaluation first to ensure your reaction times and motor skills are fully recovered. Safety of yourself and others on the road comes first.

Beta, after such a major health shock, the body needs complete rest and gentle care. Do some simple hand exercises and take warm herbal infusions to help with nerve recovery first. Do not even think about driving until the doctor tells you that you are fully fit.

No, you cannot drive immediately after a stroke. You must wait for your doctor's official clinical assessment to confirm your reflexes and vision are completely safe.
