Can you die in your sleep from bronchitis?

I've had a terrible cough and chest congestion for days, diagnosed as bronchitis. I'm worried about sleeping tonight; can you die in your sleep from bronchitis?

Normal bronchitis won't kill you in your sleep, but if you have severe breathing issues or asthma, it can block your airways. Keep your cardiovascular health strong with daily workouts, and make sure your bedroom is completely free from dust and cigarette smoke.

I can barely sleep anyway, and having bronchitis just makes me cough like crazy all night! While it's highly unlikely to kill you unless it becomes severe pneumonia, the lack of sleep definitely makes you feel half-dead. Do use a steam inhaler before trying to sleep.

While acute bronchitis is rarely fatal, chronic bronchitis or severe respiratory distress can lead to dangerous drops in oxygen levels during sleep. If you experience severe wheezing, shortness of breath, or a high fever, it is absolutely essential to seek professional medical advice.

I had a massive bronchitis flare-up last winter and honestly felt like my chest was choking up. It doesn't kill you suddenly, but if you can't breathe or are coughing up thick gunk, don't just sit there. Go to a doctor and get an inhaler or cough syrup prescribed.

When my mother had severe bronchitis, we took her to a proper hospital because her breathing got very heavy at night. Please consult a pulmonologist and ask them clearly what emergency steps to take if the coughing gets worse during sleep. Don't rely on self-treatment.

I agree that simple bronchitis isn't usually fatal, but breathing issues at night are scary. Keep a steam inhaler ready and consult a doctor if you can't sleep.
