Can you die from type 2 diabetes?

Both my parents have Type 2 diabetes, and I'm worried about them and my own risk. Can a person die from Type 2 diabetes if it's not managed properly?

My dad has Type 2 and honestly, it used to scare me a lot. But as long as you keep your sugar under control with basic lifestyle changes and meds, it's totally fine. It only becomes dangerous if you ignore it for years.

Don't fall for internet claims of 'magic powders' that can cure diabetes in 10 days. Always consult a real doctor and verify your HbA1c levels through blood tests. Proper medicine is what keeps you safe, not random remedies.

Actually, my doctor just said I am pre-diabetic and I am really worried about it. Can this turn into severe Type 2 very quickly? What are the basic things I should start doing to reverse it?

Uncontrolled diabetes can damage your heart, kidneys, and eyes over time, which can indeed be fatal. Go to a reputed endocrinologist and get a proper management plan. Ask them to explain your target HbA1c levels clearly.

At our age, half of India has Type 2 diabetes! It's not a death sentence, just a reminder to stop eating three sweets at every family wedding. Take your metformin, walk a bit, and you'll be fine.

It can cause serious heart or kidney complications if ignored, but with proper lifestyle and medicine, it is highly manageable.

I totally get why you are asking this, the fear of complications can keep you up at night. But please take a deep breath. Type 2 is very manageable and you can easily keep it from becoming dangerous with regular care.

I've seen many people live active lives past 80 even with Type 2 diabetes. The secret is just regular testing and eating mindfully. It is a slow disease, so as long as you don't neglect it, you have nothing to fear.

Keeping active is the absolute best way to manage Type 2. Just a simple 20-minute walk after your lunch and dinner can do wonders for your blood sugar levels. Keep moving and stay healthy!

While managing Type 2, you have to be very careful with heavy carb vegetarian diets like white rice and potatoes. Focus more on green vegetables, dals, and fiber-rich foods. Controlling your diet is the best way to keep your sugar in check.

I ignored my high sugar levels for three years thinking 'mujhe kuch nahi hoga' and ended up with nerve damage in my feet. Don't make my mistake. Get your blood sugar checked regularly and start your medicines on time.

Actually, it's all about lifestyle management yaar. If you keep drinking sweet tea and skip your walks, it will slowly catch up to you. Just make a few healthy changes and you'll easily keep it under control.

Type 2 won't kill you if you actively work on insulin sensitivity. Try incorporating 30 minutes of strength training or brisk walking daily. Building a little muscle helps your body process glucose much more efficiently.

Dekho, if you eat whatever you want and ignore your doctor's prescriptions, then yes, it can damage your organs and become dangerous. But if you take your medicines and cut down on sugar, you will live a perfectly normal life.
