Can you develop type 1 diabetes later in life?

My uncle, who is 60, has recently started having classic diabetes symptoms like extreme thirst and frequent urination. The doctor is considering Type 1, which confuses me because I thought that's something you get as a child. Can Type 1 diabetes develop much later in life?

Honestly, I keep searching about this because every small symptom makes me anxious. But from what I read, yes, you can definitely get Type 1 as an adult. Don't panic though, if you're feeling off, just go to a doctor and get tested so you can stop worrying like I do.

Mere bhai, at this point with my 4 hours of sleep, my body is running on pure prayers. But yes, apparently adults can develop Type 1, it's not just a kids' disease. If you are feeling extra tired, though it's probably just life, getting a quick blood check won't hurt.

I completely understand why you are asking this, health questions can really make your mind run wild. Yes, it can develop later in life, and it's called adult-onset Type 1. Please take a deep breath, it is highly manageable, and getting a doctor's opinion will bring you peace of mind.

Yes, you can get it later in life too. I highly suggest getting a GAD antibody test done if you or your doctor suspect it.

Oh absolutely, it can happen later in life. Honestly, my biggest fear is having to cut down on my weekend biryani and desserts if my sugar acts up. But jokes aside, if you suspect anything, just see a doctor and get it checked so you can eat peacefully.
