Can you develop asthma later in life?

My mother is 70 years old and has recently started having episodes of breathlessness and a chronic cough, which she never had before. Her doctor mentioned it might be asthma, and I am curious if it can develop at such an advanced age.

My aunt actually developed asthma in her late 40s after moving to a highly polluted area. I didn't even know you could get it as an adult, but it's totally possible. She got an inhaler from her doctor and is doing completely fine now, so definitely get it checked.

Yes, late-onset asthma is actually quite common, often triggered by pollution, stress, or sudden allergies. I track my daily outdoor air quality index on my phone to manage my exposure, which helps. It is best to consult a pulmonologist to get a proper lung function test done.

Getting older apparently means my body loves collecting new symptoms, and adult-onset asthma is one of them! Yes, you can absolutely develop it later in life, especially if you have chronic allergies. Go see a lung specialist and get a good inhaler to make life easier.

Dealing with chronic health conditions like PCOS has shown me that our bodies can develop new sensitivities quite unexpectedly as we age. Asthma can certainly develop later in life due to hormonal or environmental changes. I suggest seeking a doctor's advice rather than self-diagnosing.

Honestly, as if sleepless nights weren't enough, waking up wheezing because of newly developed adult asthma is just exhausting. Yes, it can absolutely happen out of nowhere. Do yourself a favor, skip the late-night Google searches, and just let a doctor prescribe you the right inhaler.

Yes, asthma can develop later in life when our respiratory system becomes sensitive to environmental stress. Practicing gentle pranayama under proper guidance can significantly strengthen your lungs over time. However, please consult a medical doctor first to get a proper diagnosis and medication.
