Can you develop asthma?

Lately, I've been feeling short of breath, especially when I exercise or if there's a lot of dust. My cousin has asthma, and it makes me think. I wanted to ask if asthma is something that can develop in adulthood, or if it's usually something people have from childhood.

Yes, you can absolutely develop asthma later in life, and please don't make the mistake of ignoring it like I did. I kept brushing off my dry cough as just a simple pollution allergy until I had a massive attack and ended up in the emergency room. Please get a proper lung checkup from a pulmonologist right away.

I have been having this sudden wheezing and tightness in my chest for the past month, especially at night, and I am so scared. I never had any breathing issues growing up. Can you actually develop asthma suddenly as an adult, or is this something else? Has anyone else felt this way?

Managing PCOS has made me realize that our bodies can develop new health issues quite unexpectedly due to various triggers. Asthma can definitely develop later in life, but I wouldn't suggest self-diagnosing based on internet symptoms. It is much safer to visit a specialist and get a proper breathing test done.

I have tried many herbal teas and steam inhalation for breathing comfort, and they do help a bit with daily congestion. But if you are actually developing asthma, home remedies are not enough. You must see a doctor to get a proper inhaler, as that is the only safe way to manage it.

Yes, adult-onset asthma is definitely a thing! 🌬️ Many people develop it due to pollution, allergies, or after a bad viral infection. Don't worry though, with the right inhalers and care, you can live a completely active and happy life! Just visit a doc to get it checked out. 😊
