Can you contract asthma?

My younger brother has asthma, and sometimes I get worried about my own health, especially around dust. I was wondering if asthma is something you can actually 'catch' from someone or from the environment. Is it like a transferable disease?

You don't 'contract' asthma from another person like a cold, as it's not contagious at all. I have had asthma for 15 years, and it is usually triggered by genetic factors, pollution, or allergies. My best tip is to identify your personal triggers, keep your inhaler handy, and never skip your routine checkups.

I was diagnosed with adult-onset asthma last year after a severe respiratory infection, and I panicked thinking I 'caught' it from someone. But my doctor explained it's just my airways reacting to pollution and allergens. With the right inhalers, I am now completely back to normal and can run without any breathlessness.

Beta, asthma is not a disease that you catch from someone else. It is just weakness in the airways. While you must take the doctor's inhalers regularly, inhaling steam with a little eucalyptus oil and drinking warm ginger water daily can help soothe your chest. Take care of your health.

When I first got diagnosed with asthma, I totally panicked and thought my life was limited. But honestly, it's so common and completely manageable. You can't contract it from others, it is just a chronic airway condition. Once you find the right medication with your doctor, you will realize you can live a perfectly normal life.

Don't worry, asthma is definitely not an infectious disease, so you can't catch it from someone coughing near you. It is basically chronic inflammation of the airways, usually triggered by dust, pollen, or genetics. If you are struggling with a persistent cough or wheezing, go see a doctor for a simple spirometry test.

With the amount of dust and pollution in our cities, my lungs feel like they are protesting daily, but thank god asthma isn't contagious! You can't catch it from anyone. It is just your own lungs throwing a fit due to dust, cold air, or allergies, so keep your environment clean and see a doctor.

I totally get it, experiencing breathing issues or sudden wheezing can be so scary, and you start wondering where it came from. Asthma isn't contagious, so you didn't catch it from anyone. Please be gentle with yourself, and make an appointment with a doctor to get a proper diagnosis and inhaler plan.
