Can you catch dengue fever twice?

About five years ago, I had a severe case of dengue fever, and it was a very tough experience. Now, with the monsoon season starting, there's always a fear of mosquitoes. I heard somewhere that you can get dengue more than once; is that true?

Yes, unfortunately you can get it again. Since there are different strains of the virus, getting it once doesn't make you fully immune. Keep your mind peaceful, focus on keeping your surroundings clean, and trust that nature will protect us if we take basic care.

Yes, you can actually catch dengue up to four times because there are four distinct serotypes of the virus. My doctor explained that the second infection can sometimes be more severe because of a process called antibody-dependent enhancement. So please don't take mosquito protection lightly even if you had it before.

Yes, a repeat infection is very much possible because immunity is strain-specific. If you ever get high fever with severe body ache again, don't just self-medicate with painkillers like pain-relief pills because they can affect your platelets. Get a simple blood test done and consult a doctor right away.

Bilkul ho sakta hai doosri baar bhi. The best thing we can do is prevent mosquito breeding near our homes. Keep water coolers clean, use mosquito nets or good quality coils, and wear full sleeves when sitting outside in the evenings. Prevention is better than running to hospitals.

Yes, you can get it twice. When my gym buddy got hit by dengue a second time, it really drained his energy. He had to stop heavy lifting and could only do light walking after his doctor gave him the green light weeks later. Do not rush your recovery if you get infected again.

I was actually reading up on this because dengue is spreading in our area. It turns out there are four types of dengue viruses, so yes, you can get reinfected. I thought once was enough for lifetime immunity, but apparently that is not how it works!

I already have to manage my PCOS carefully, so when I got dengue, I was super scared about getting it again. My doctor confirmed that yes, you can catch a different strain. Now I am extremely careful with mosquito repellents and try not to take my health for granted.
