Can you be allergic to tb skin test?

Last week, I had a TB skin test done for a new job requirement. After a day, the area where they injected got very red, swollen, and itchy, much more than my colleague's. I'm wondering if I could be allergic to the TB skin test itself?

A reaction at the injection site is common, but a real allergic reaction is serious. If you see swelling spreading quickly or feel any breathing trouble, please don't wait and go straight to the clinic. Safety should always be your main priority.

At this age, my body reacts to even a change in the weather, let alone a TB test! But honestly, a little redness is normal after the prick. If it starts itching like crazy or swelling up like a balloon, better let the doc have a look.

I had this test done last year. The nurse told me to keep the arm calm and avoid heavy workouts or gym sessions for a couple of days. If the doctor says it is okay, you can stick to light evening walks instead of heavy lifting while waiting for the test reading.

I understand how annoying that redness and itching can be. Please don't apply any home remedies, turmeric, or oils on the test area as it might mess up the test reading. Just keep it clean and dry, and let the doctor inspect it.

While rare, hypersensitivity to the components of the tuberculin PPD solution can happen. It is critical to differentiate between a positive TB reaction and an actual allergic response. Only a qualified medical professional can properly interpret the results, so definitely consult your doctor.

Bro, my arm got super red and itchy after the TB skin test. I thought it was an allergy, but the doc said it was just a strong positive reaction and gave me the next steps. Just don't scratch it and let the clinic check it after 48 hours.

When I had my checkup for high blood pressure, the doctor also ran a few routine tests including this one. If you have any unusual reaction on the skin, it is best to get it checked during your regular follow-up. Managing your overall health and keeping stress low helps the body heal faster.

Actually, the test liquid contains a preservative called phenol which can sometimes cause a local skin reaction. Don't rub or put band-aid over the site. If you feel dizzy or notice hives elsewhere on the body, report to your clinic immediately.
