Can we sleep after taking thyroid tablet in morning?

I take my thyroid tablet first thing in the morning with water. After that, I usually feel like sleeping for another hour. Is it okay if I go back to sleep after taking the tablet, or should I stay awake?

At my age, waking up early just to take a pill is a chore. I keep the tablet on my bedside table, swallow it with water at 6 AM, and immediately go back to sleep till 7 AM. My doctor said sleeping is fine, just don't drink tea or coffee right away.

You can definitely go back to sleep after taking it, but just don't eat anything for at least 30-45 minutes! I take mine, sleep for another hour, and then wake up directly for my favorite breakfast. The gap is what matters most.

I asked my endocrinologist at Apollo Hospital about this last month. He confirmed that sleeping doesn't affect the absorption at all, but we must strictly avoid eating food, tea, or milk for minimum 45 minutes after the tablet. Ask your doctor for your specific timing.

Yes beta, you can sleep. Just keep a copper vessel of water by your bed, take the medicine on an empty stomach when the alarm rings, and rest. Make sure you don't take any other herbal powders or tea for an hour.

I used to get so anxious thinking I would mess up my thyroid levels if I slept after taking the pill. It kept me awake and stressed. But my doctor reassured me that sleeping is perfectly fine as long as the stomach is empty.

Yes, sleeping is absolutely fine. But if you can, try to use that time to go for a light morning walk after a while instead. Staying active really helps manage thyroid symptoms along with your regular medication.
