Can vomiting cause hypoglycemia?

My father is diabetic, and he recently had a bad spell of vomiting. We're always careful about his blood sugar levels. Could severe vomiting actually lead to a drop in blood sugar, causing hypoglycemia?

Yeah, if you keep throwing up and can't keep any food down, your blood sugar level is bound to crash. I felt super dizzy once after a stomach bug. Sipping on some glucose water slowly really helped me get my energy back.

Beta, when the body throws up, all energy is lost. In our times, we used to slowly sip sugar-salt water or light pomegranate juice. But if the weakness is too much, do not wait and consult a doctor immediately.

Please do not ignore extreme weakness or shivering after vomiting. I once ignored it thinking it was just fatigue, and my sugar levels had crashed dangerously low. Go get checked by a doctor immediately if you feel faint.

At the hospital, my doctor explained that prolonged vomiting prevents nutrient absorption, directly causing hypoglycemia. If you or someone else is experiencing confusion, fainting, or cold sweats, please visit an emergency room immediately.

I know how terrifying it feels when your body starts shaking after vomiting, it instantly makes me anxious too. Yes, it can cause low sugar because your body is empty. Please lie down and have someone get you some sweet water.

I can only tell you what happened to me during a bad bout of gastroenteritis. I started shivering and sweating because I couldn't digest anything. The doctor at the clinic gave me an IV drip to stabilize my glucose and hydration.

Listen, don't panic. If you can't keep food down, your body runs out of glucose fuel, which causes low sugar. Try taking tiny sips of electoral or glucose water. If you still feel dizzy, let's get you to a clinic, okay?

Yes, continuous vomiting empties your glycogen stores, leading to low sugar. Once the vomiting stops, try having some plain coconut water or a spoonful of honey to gently bring your sugars up without overloading your stomach.

I totally get it, feeling that shaky, sweaty sensation after throwing up is so unsettling and scary. It is very common for blood sugar to drop when your stomach is empty. Please rest up and try to take small sips of sweet juice.

Of course! If you throw out all the delicious food you ate, your body will run out of fuel and crash. Once your stomach feels a little better, start with some light sweet tea or a bit of apple juice to get that energy back.

Yes, especially if you have been active or working out and then empty your stomach. Your muscles drain all the glucose. Rest completely, avoid any physical exertion, and slowly sip electrolyte water until your stomach settles.

Actually yes, because your body has zero carbs left to burn, so sugar levels drop fast yaar. If you feel dizzy or shaky, just sip some Electral water slowly. If it continues, just go to a clinic.
