Can urgent care treat kidney stones?

My mother is experiencing severe flank pain, and we suspect it might be kidney stones based on previous episodes. We are in a new city and don't have a regular doctor here. Can an urgent care center treat kidney stones and provide pain relief, or what options do they offer?

Honestly, don't rely on what people write online for kidney stones because pain can suddenly get super bad. Some urgent care places can only give pain killers and won't have proper scanning machines. Better to go to a proper hospital and let a urologist check you directly.

They can help with basic pain relief first, but definitely get a scan done. Once the doctor tells you the stone size and gives the go-ahead, doing light brisk walking and keeping yourself super hydrated really helps in passing small stones naturally. Just don't overdo any exercise if you are in pain.

Oh god, kidney stone pain is the absolute worst, I get so anxious just thinking about it. An urgent care clinic might help with immediate heavy pain, but what if they don't have a specialist? Please go to a hospital emergency room if the pain is unbearable, it is much safer.

They can give you primary relief, but you need a full checkup to see the stone size. I have high BP and my doctor always says kidney issues can affect blood pressure, so don't ignore it. Get your kidney function tests done regularly along with lifestyle changes.

Urgent care is fine for a quick injection if the pain is starting, but they won't do long-term treatment. Just like my thyroid issues, kidney health also needs continuous monitoring and regular ultrasound follow-ups with a specialist. Don't skip the main doctor visit after urgent care.
