Can underactive thyroid cause shortness of breath?

I've been feeling breathless sometimes, even with light activity, and I'm currently being evaluated for an underactive thyroid. Could this shortness of breath actually be a symptom of an underactive thyroid?

Yes, an underactive thyroid can actually weaken your respiratory muscles and make you feel winded easily, even during light workouts. Don't push yourself too hard at the gym right now. Focus on a balanced diet and get your hormone levels checked before starting any heavy training.

Yes, when the body's energy is low from thyroid, even breathing can feel heavy. You can practice very light breathing exercises in the morning and drink warm ginger water to feel better. But please do not ignore this and visit your family doctor soon.

I tried all kinds of herbal teas and breathing techniques for my shortness of breath, thinking it was just asthma, but it was actually my severe underactive thyroid. Home remedies only help a little, you absolutely need the right medical dose to fix the root cause. Take care.

Hypothyroidism slows down your heart rate and weakens breathing muscles, which can definitely cause that heavy breathing feeling. However, since shortness of breath can sometimes be a sign of heart or lung issues, please get evaluated by a doctor promptly to be safe.

Honestly, yes, it can happen. My mom used to get breathless just climbing a few stairs when her thyroid levels were super high. Once she started her regular medication, her breathing went back to normal, so definitely go get it checked.

Haan, bilkul ho sakta hai, body ki speed ekdum slow ho jaati hai na thyroid mein. Par breathlessness ko halke mein mat lena yaar. Ek baar doctor ko dikha kar proper test karwa lo, isme deri mat karo.
