Can underactive thyroid cause hot flashes?

My mother is going through menopause, and she also has an underactive thyroid. She's been having very intense hot flashes lately, much worse than her friends. Can an underactive thyroid make hot flashes worse or even cause them?

I have been feeling these sudden waves of heat lately and it's making me really uncomfortable. Is this a common thing with thyroid issues, or does it only happen during menopause?

I get so anxious when my body temperature fluctuates and I start sweating suddenly. While hypothyroidism usually makes people feel cold, hormone imbalances can sometimes cause weird temperature regulation issues. Definitely get it checked so you can stop worrying like I do.

I ignored my sudden sweating and hot flashes thinking it was just weather, but my thyroid levels had actually crashed severely, causing other hormonal complications. Please don't take these temperature changes lightly and visit a specialist as soon as possible.

My thyroid loves playing games with me—one minute I need a sweater, and the next minute I am sweating like I'm in a sauna! Hormones are totally unpredictable, so just get your daily pill dose adjusted by the doctor to stop these mini-summer waves.

Don't believe people online who tell you to drink cool drinks or herbal powders to stop hot flashes. Usually, an underactive thyroid makes you feel cold, not hot, so hot flashes might point to something else like menopause or a dosage issue. Go to a proper doctor and get your blood checked.
