Can underactive thyroid cause fatigue?

For the past few months, I've been feeling extremely tired and drained, no matter how much I sleep. My doctor is checking for an underactive thyroid. Can an underactive thyroid really cause such severe fatigue?

Bro, fatigue is literally the biggest symptom of an underactive thyroid. I used to sleep for 9 hours and still feel like a zombie all day. Once I got my blood test done and started taking my daily pill, my energy levels slowly came back to normal.

I have been feeling extremely tired lately and can barely get out of bed, so I was wondering if this could be the reason. Does anyone know if this fatigue gets better soon after starting the thyroid medicine?

Fatigue is very common with underactive thyroid, as I have seen among many of my friends who deal with hormonal issues. It is important to be gentle with yourself and not force your body too hard. Definitely consult a specialist to get your levels checked and get a proper plan.

I totally get it, that heavy, bone-deep tiredness is just exhausting to deal with every day. Hypothyroidism slows down your entire system, which makes even basic tasks feel like climbing a mountain. Please hang in there and get your TSH checked, you will feel much better once it is regulated.

Yes, extreme fatigue is very common. Instead of wasting money on expensive energy drinks or general vitamins, just get a basic thyroid test done for around 300 to 400 rupees. Finding the actual cause will save you a lot of money and effort in the long run.
