Can underactive thyroid cause dry mouth?

I've been experiencing a very dry mouth lately, almost constantly, and it's quite uncomfortable. I also have an underactive thyroid, which I take medication for. Could my underactive thyroid be the reason for this dry mouth?

Haan na, thyroid ki wajah se dry mouth ki problem hoti hai, mujhe bhi baar baar pyaas lagti thi. Pehle lagta tha ki summer ki wajah se hai, par actually thyroid levels bide hue the. Ek baar checkup karwa lo toh acha rahega.

It can certainly cause dry mouth because a slow metabolism can affect your salivary glands. Try sipping warm water and eating watery fruits like cucumbers and melons, but make sure to consult your doctor for a proper thyroid test to get to the root of it.

Honestly, do not ignore dry mouth thinking it is just lack of water. I kept drinking bottles of water for months and ignored getting a test, only to find out my thyroid levels were heavily messed up. Go get a TSH test done right away.

Haan beta, thyroid kam hone se gala aur mooh bahut sookhne lagta hai. Hamari bhabhi ko bhi yahi takleef thi aur woh hamesha paani lekar baithti thin. Aap ghabraiye mat, bas doctor babu ko dikhakar dawai shuru kar lijiye.

When my mother complained of persistent dry mouth, the doctors at our hospital explained that thyroid issues can sometimes affect saliva production or point to other autoimmune conditions. They adjusted her daily tablet and suggested a few blood tests. Please ask your endocrinologist clearly about this.
