Can u have a stroke and not know it?

My uncle recently had a mild stroke, and he said he didn't even realize it was happening at first. Is it possible to have a stroke and not even know that you've had one? I'm getting worried about my own health.

Yes, dear, there is something called a silent stroke that people might not notice immediately, especially if it affects a very small part of the brain. But don't let this cause you unnecessary stress. If you ever feel sudden weakness or difficulty talking, just go straight to a hospital without waiting.

I literally stayed awake all night once because my left arm felt slightly numb and I panicked thinking it was a silent stroke. Turns out I just slept on it funny! If you don't have facial drooping or slurred speech, take a deep breath, you are likely absolutely fine.

As someone managing diabetes, my doctor told me that high blood sugar can damage blood vessels over time, which increases these risks silently. That is why keeping a strict check on your HbA1c is so important. Prevention is always better than cure.

Hey, don't worry so much or start googling every small headache, okay? Yes, silent strokes happen, but they are usually detected during random MRI scans for other things. Just stay active, eat well, and if you ever feel something is seriously off with your balance, go see a doctor.

Instead of worrying about silent symptoms, it is much easier to just do regular health checks once a year. Keep your blood pressure and cholesterol under control. It's a very simple and practical way to keep your mind at peace.
