Can u grow out of asthma?

My younger brother has had asthma since he was a kid, and it often affects his playtime. My mother was saying that sometimes kids grow out of it. Is that actually true, or will he always have to manage it?

Look, childhood asthma often fades away as the airways develop, but it doesn't mean it's 100% gone forever. It can easily flare up again during bad pollution months in cities like Delhi or when you get a bad flu. Just keep an inhaler handy during winters.

Please be very careful with this assumption. I thought I outgrew mine in college, but then had a massive attack out of nowhere during a dusty house shifting and ended up in the ICU. Do not stop your regular checkups or inhalers without consulting a pulmonologist first.

Like managing diabetes, breathing issues also need proper discipline. Even if the attacks stop, don't ignore your basic health. Avoiding highly cold, sugary drinks during seasonal changes helped my nephew a lot with his chest congestion.

Many kids actually do see their symptoms go away as they grow up! My younger brother had it bad till 12, but now he is completely fine and runs marathons. Still good to be a bit careful during cold weather though.

With age, the body gets stronger and the breathing settles down, by God's grace. In our days, we used to give children a warm spoon of honey with a tiny pinch of ginger juice in the morning to build immunity. But if the breathlessness is severe, only a doctor can help.

I tried everything from herbal powders to fish therapy in my childhood, but honestly, age and better lung capacity are what actually made the difference. Now I rarely get wheezing. Warm saline gargles and steam inhalation are still my go-to for daily comfort.

My son had mild asthma as a kid, but now at 22 he is absolutely fine. We didn't do anything fancy, just kept the house dust-free, avoided thick carpets, and made sure he did some light outdoor playing. Simple lifestyle adjustments work best.
