Can type 2 diabetes turn to type 1 diabetes?

My brother's doctor mentioned that sometimes Type 2 diabetes can progress to resemble Type 1. Does this mean Type 2 can truly turn into Type 1 diabetes, or was he explaining something else?

Haan, clear cut answer toh nahi hai iska kyunki biology alag hai dono ki. Type 2 kabhi Type 1 nahi banta, par haan, treatment badal sakta hai aur insulin ki zaroorat pad sakti hai. Apne doctor se baat karke clear kar lo na, tension khatam ho jayegi.

In my experience, keeping the mind calm through daily pranayama helps tremendously with sugar levels. Rest assured, Type 2 is a lifestyle issue and doesn't turn into the autoimmune Type 1 condition. Keep practicing gentle breathing and follow your physician's guidance.

No, it's a flat no. They are medically distinct conditions with entirely different root causes, so one cannot convert into the other. If someone told you otherwise, they are misinformed. Consult a proper endocrinologist for accurate facts.

I had a lot of complications because I didn't take my Type 2 seriously early on. While they are different and one doesn't turn into the other, neglecting your health can lead to severe issues. Please see your doctor regularly to monitor your pancreas health and get the right treatment.

I was actually panicking about this exact same thing last week when my blood sugar spiked. It felt like my body was failing and I wondered if it had become Type 1. Did anyone else here also get super anxious when their meds were adjusted?

Agree with the others, it cannot turn into Type 1. Just keep tracking your fasting sugar and consult your doctor regularly.

They are clinically different—Type 1 is when your body's immune system attacks insulin-producing cells, while Type 2 is about resistance. So no, one doesn't become the other. If your current oral meds aren't working, your doctor might suggest insulin, but that doesn't change your diagnosis.
