Can type 2 diabetes turn into type 1 diabetes?

My cousin was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes a few years ago, and now his doctor is saying something about his condition getting more severe. I heard somewhere that sometimes Type 2 can 'turn into' Type 1, is that actually true?

Honestly, I have been dealing with Type 2 for about six years now. My doctor told me they are completely different biological conditions, so one doesn't just morph into the other. Even though I started needing insulin recently, my diagnosis remains Type 2.

Actually yaar, both are totally different. In Type 2 your body becomes resistant to insulin, but in Type 1 it just stops producing it. My dad had the same confusion when he was prescribed insulin, but his doc explained that it's still Type 2 only.

My uncle used to say that if you don't control Type 2, it becomes Type 1, but my doctor cleared this doubt for me. Type 1 is an autoimmune issue where the body stops making insulin altogether. Please consult your physician once, they will explain it so beautifully and ease your mind.

Don't worry, Type 2 doesn't magically upgrade itself to Type 1 like some mobile phone software update! They are two different tracks altogether. Just keep an eye on your sweets and you'll be absolutely fine, tension मत लो!

I used to ignore my high sugar levels thinking it's just minor Type 2 and won't get worse. That negligence landed me in the hospital with severe issues, so please don't sit on these doubts. Go get your HbA1c and other tests done regularly so your doctor can guide you properly.
