Can type 2 diabetes be reversed without medication?

I'm always a bit hesitant to start new medications due to potential side effects. I have Type 2 diabetes and want to explore all options. Is it truly possible to reverse Type 2 diabetes without relying on any medicines?

I was looking into this and actually found that in the early stages of type 2, if you lose a good amount of weight, your body can start managing insulin properly again. So it seems possible for some people, but it depends on how long you've had it.

My doctor wants to start me on metformin but I really want to try doing it naturally first. Is anyone else scared of starting long-term medicines? I'm worried about the side effects of taking pills forever.

Yes, many people achieve remission through strict weight loss and carb restriction. However, it requires lifetime discipline to maintain.

It is possible for newly diagnosed cases to achieve remission through major lifestyle changes alone. However, please don't stop your current medication without consulting your doctor. Let them evaluate your lab results and make the decision safely.

Focusing on a high-fibre vegetarian diet with plenty of leafy greens, lentils, and oats helped me tremendously. But we must be careful with sweet fruits like mangoes and grapes. Proper food choices can definitely help you manage without meds.

Agree with others here. Reducing simple carbohydrates like white rice and maida is the best first step if you want to avoid meds.

My doctor told me that remission without medication is highly possible if your pancreas still has functioning beta cells. He advised a low glycaemic index diet and 150 minutes of moderate exercise weekly. I've maintained a normal sugar level without pills for over a year now.

Stopping meds and reversing sugar sounds lovely, but my sweet-loving heart and lazy legs make it so difficult! Honestly, it takes immense self-control to manage without tablets. If you can stay away from samosas and sweets forever, go for it!

When my teenager showed borderline high sugars, we immediately removed all processed food and cold drinks from the house. With home-cooked meals and daily sports, his levels became completely normal without any tablets. You can do it too, just keep a clean kitchen.

At my age, I have realized that our body responds beautifully to simple living. I controlled my early-stage diabetes just by walking every morning and eating light dinners. It is definitely possible if you stay active and positive.

Trying to reverse it without meds is fine, but you must monitor your fasting and post-prandial sugars regularly at home. If your levels stay consistently high, please don't hesitate to take medication. High blood sugar can silently damage your kidneys.

Please don't delay medication if your doctor has advised it. I tried to avoid meds for a year thinking I could reverse it naturally, and my HbA1c shot up to 10, which caused nerve issues in my feet. Get a proper checkup and listen to the doctor.
