Can type 1 diabetics donate blood?

There's a blood donation camp happening in my college next month. I have Type 1 diabetes and usually manage it well with insulin. I really want to donate, but I'm not sure if I'm eligible. Can Type 1 diabetics donate blood?

I track all my vitals on my smartwatch, and blood safety is huge. Typically, if you use insulin, most donor centers in India don't allow donation due to safety protocols. Better to check the specific guidelines of the blood bank first.

As someone managing high blood pressure with daily checkups, I know how strict blood banks are. Since type 1 requires regular insulin injections, donation is usually restricted. You should consult your physician to understand the rules.

My family always encourages donating blood for good karma, but for my nephew who has type 1, the doctor advised against it. The insulin dependence makes it complicated. It is best to follow your doctor's specific advice on this.

Haan yaar, maine bhi yeh check kiya tha. Mostly blood banks mana kar dete hain agar aap insulin lete ho toh. Risk hota hai na sugar levels ka. Ek baar apne doctor se confirm kar lena donation camp jaane se pehle.

Hey, we had a blood donation drive at college and they said no to students on insulin therapy. Sucks because we want to help, but safety comes first. Definitely ask your doc before trying to donate anywhere.
