Can turmeric heal liver?

My brother has some liver issues, and our family uses a lot of traditional remedies. Many people suggest turmeric for liver health, claiming it can help. Can turmeric actually help to heal a damaged liver?

Let's be real, turmeric is not a magic cure for a damaged liver. If you have fatty liver or high enzymes, you need a proper medical checkup, lifestyle changes, and doctor's advice, not just haldi doodh.

I have seen many people ask this. While turmeric has great antioxidant properties that support liver health, it alone cannot heal severe liver damage or fatty liver. A clean diet and avoiding alcohol are much more important.

I can only speak from my own experience of recovering from fatty liver. Cutting out processed sugar, losing 5 kgs, and regular exercise healed my liver, not any herbal supplements or extra turmeric.

When my father had elevated liver markers, we went to a hepatologist at Apollo. He told us that heavy turmeric supplements can actually stress the liver further, so please ask your doctor clearly before taking anything.

Turmeric helps in gentle detoxification and reduces mild inflammation in the body when paired with pranayama and wholesome food. However, for any major liver condition, always take guidance from a medical doctor.
