Can trapped gas cause vomiting?

Sometimes after a heavy meal, I get a lot of gas and feel very bloated. It gets so bad that I occasionally end up vomiting. I'm trying to figure out if the gas is directly causing the vomiting or if it's something else.

I actually rushed to the ER once because the gas pressure made me throw up and I panicked thinking it was a heart issue. The doctor checked me and said it was just severe gastritis. Once the gas cleared, I was totally fine, so don't worry too much.

Yes, it really can! Sometimes the gas pressure builds up so much that your stomach just wants to empty itself. Sip some ginger tea slowly and you will feel much better soon. 😊

When the digestion is weak, excess wind or 'vata' in the stomach can push upwards and trigger a vomiting reflex. Try to sit in Vajrasana after eating and practice deep belly breathing. It gently aids digestion and prevents this.

Oh absolutely, your stomach sometimes goes on a complete strike when there is too much gas inside. It decides if the gas won't leave, nothing else stays either! Just lie down, relax, and let your digestive system calm down.

Yes, severe gas and acidity can definitely trigger a vomiting reflex. It's quite common when the stomach is highly bloated.

Yes, it happens when the acidity is high. A simple thing that works is avoiding tea or coffee on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Drink lukewarm water instead and keep your dinner very light.
