Can toothache cause head pain?

This persistent toothache has been giving me a splitting headache for hours now. I'm wondering if the pain from my tooth is directly causing my head pain. What do you think?

My dentist explained that the trigeminal nerve is responsible for sensations in both your teeth and your head. When a tooth is infected, the pain signals travel up this pathway, which is why we feel a strong headache.

Yes, it is very common for a bad toothache to cause a splitting headache because the nerves are closely linked. Don't worry, just take some rest, keep yourself hydrated, and make sure you visit the dentist tomorrow.

I totally get it, that throbbing pain in both the tooth and the head can make it impossible to concentrate on anything. It is so exhausting, please take it easy and get it checked by a dentist soon.

Absolutely, yes. The jaw pressure can easily trigger a massive headache on the same side.

Yes, the tension in the jaw travels upward. You can try applying a cool compress to your forehead or a warm cloth to your jaw for temporary relief, but you must consult a doctor if the pain is severe.

Please get this checked by a dentist as soon as possible. I ignored a toothache that was causing headaches, and it turned out to be a severe sinus infection triggered by the tooth root, which required heavy medication.
