Can tooth pain come and go?
I've been having tooth pain for a while now, but it's not constant. It comes for a few hours, then goes away, and then comes back again after some time. Is it normal for tooth pain to be intermittent like this?
I've been having tooth pain for a while now, but it's not constant. It comes for a few hours, then goes away, and then comes back again after some time. Is it normal for tooth pain to be intermittent like this?
Yes, it happens. Last year my tooth pain would act up only during my heavy lifting sessions or when I drank chilled protein shakes, and then disappear. Turned out to be a deep cavity that needed a simple filling.
This is very common. Sometimes the nerve is slowly dying, which makes the pain disappear for a while before it flares up again.
Don't worry too much, beta. I have seen this many times in my life where the pain stops for a few weeks and we think it is cured, but it always comes back. It is just the nerve reacting to different temperatures, so do get it checked.
Don't sit on it thinking it is cured just because the pain stopped today. Go to a nearby government hospital or local dental clinic for a quick X-ray. It hardly costs much and will save you from a costly root canal later.
Oh god, I always panic when this happens because I start thinking it is some major infection spreading to my jaw bone. It actually does come and go, but please go to a dentist just to put your mind at peace, otherwise you will keep stressing.
I am also facing this since last week and I was hoping it would just go away permanently. Does the pain coming and go mean we definitely need a root canal, or can a normal medicine cure it?
Bro, same thing happened to me last month. It would hurt like crazy for two days and then totally fine for a week. Finally went to the doc and he told me the infection was spreading inside, so don't ignore it.

My tooth is like my relative, it comes to trouble me, goes away when I plan to see the dentist, and then returns the moment I try to chew something nice. Jokes apart, that on-and-off pain is usually a sign of a hidden cavity.
Yes, it behaves like this. I tried chewing clove, applying ginger paste, and salt water gargles which made the pain go away for days, but it kept returning. Ultimately, home remedies only mask the issue, only a dentist can cure it.
Yes! It plays hide and seek with us. 😅 It usually triggers when we eat something very sweet or cold. Best to get it cleaned before it starts hurting continuously!
