Can tooth pain cause throat pain?

For the past couple of days, I've had severe pain from a bad tooth. Along with it, I'm also experiencing a constant ache in my throat. Can tooth pain cause throat pain?

Beta, the nerves in our face are all connected so the pain easily travels from the jaw to the throat. You can try warm water gargles with a little bit of salt and turmeric for temporary relief. But please don't delay, show it to a proper dentist to see what the root cause is.

Yes, absolutely. I had the same issue last month and my dentist explained that the swelling in the gums can make swallowing very painful too.

Tell me about it, yaar! I couldn't even eat my favourite hot momos because the molar pain made my whole throat feel like it was on fire. Eating anything cold or warm became a big task until the dentist fixed the tooth cavity.

Honestly, don't waste time looking for answers on the internet or trying random herbal pastes. If you have throat pain with toothache, it could be a spreading infection. Go and get it checked by a real doctor or dentist immediately.

It definitely can happen as the facial nerves are deeply interconnected. While you wait for your dental appointment, try doing some gentle breathing and cooling pranayama like Shitali to calm down the heat and tension in the jaw area.
