Can tooth cavities heal?
My 8-year-old son has a small cavity, which the dentist called a 'minor spot'. I'm wondering if such small cavities can heal on their own with good brushing, or do they always need a filling?

I have been using special remineralizing toothpaste for a small cavity but I am so scared it will get worse and need a painful root canal. Has anyone actually managed to reverse a small cavity without getting a filling done?
My dentist explained that early-stage cavities (just enamel decay) can actually remineralize and heal with fluoride, proper diet, and hygiene. However, once the decay crosses the enamel and reaches the dentin layer, it is physically impossible to heal naturally and you absolutely need a filling.
I track my daily habits and noticed that reducing sugar intake and using a high-fluoride mouthwash really stopped my early enamel erosion. While deep cavities won't heal, early ones can be stopped. Check your dental health with a digital scan at the dentist's office.
Please do not try to self-treat tooth decay at home. A small cavity can quickly turn into a deep infection requiring a costly root canal or extraction. Get it checked by a qualified dentist immediately to assess the damage safely.
Don't fall for YouTube videos claiming oil pulling or salt water can cure deep cavities. Once there is a physical hole in the tooth, only a dentist can clean it and fill it. Go to a dental clinic instead of wasting time on internet remedies.
