Can too much tea cause kidney stones?
My father used to drink chai almost 10-12 times a day, and he developed kidney stones. I also drink a lot of tea. Can this habit increase my risk of getting kidney stones?

I totally get it, for us Indians, giving up tea is almost impossible! But yes, black tea has high oxalates which can cause kidney stones. Maybe try reducing it to just one cup a day and drink more water to protect your kidneys.
Yes, black tea is very rich in oxalates, which can cause kidney stones. It's best to limit your tea intake and drink plenty of water.
Wait, really? I drink like 4 cups of tapri chai daily during exams. If this oxalate thing is true, I should probably switch to milk chai or just drink tons of water to flush it out. That's kinda scary!
I used to drink 6 cups of strong black tea daily and ended up with a severe 8mm kidney stone that required painful surgery. Please don't ignore this. If you have chronic side pain, go to a doctor and get an ultrasound done immediately.
I just recovered from kidney stones last month. My doctor told me to strictly limit black tea because of oxalates. Now I only drink milk tea once a day and make sure to drink 3 liters of water daily. It has really helped me stay stone-free.
My son had kidney stones last year because of high tea consumption and very low water intake during his hostel days. I had to force him to drink barley water and limit his tea. Please take care and ensure you drink water after every cup of tea.
