Can too much sleep cause headaches?

On weekends, I sometimes sleep for 9-10 hours, trying to catch up on sleep. But often, I wake up with a dull headache. Can sleeping too much actually cause headaches instead of making me feel rested?

Hey, relax, this is actually very common. If I sleep for 10 hours on Sundays, I always wake up with a heavy head. Just drink some warm water and don't skip your breakfast today, you will feel better soon.

Yes, oversleeping absolutely triggers headaches because it messes up your brain's biological clock and hydration levels. The trick is to stick to 7-8 hours even on weekends. If you do oversleep, drink two big glasses of water immediately after waking up to clear that brain fog.

Oversleeping definitely causes a heavy head, and for us, it can also delay our morning breakfast and medicines, which drops or spikes blood sugar levels. Keep your routine fixed. If the pain is severe or you feel dizzy, please check your blood sugar and talk to your doctor.

Honestly, I was facing this every single weekend till last month. I used to think extra sleep is good, but my doctor told me it disrupts serotonin. I started setting a strict alarm at 7:30 AM daily and my weekend headaches have completely stopped now.

I totally get it, it is so frustrating when you sleep extra to feel fresh but end up with a painful headache instead. It literally ruins the whole day. Try taking a gentle walk in fresh air and have some light ginger tea, it usually helps me ease the pressure.

Our bodies thrive on a fixed schedule. Oversleeping by even an hour or two throws off your circadian rhythm, leading to dull tension headaches. Keep your wake-up time consistent within a 30-minute window, even on Saturdays, to keep your productivity high.

Beta, in our days we always said 'ati sarvatra varjayet' which means too much of anything is bad. Oversleeping makes the body lazy and blocks the flow of energy, causing headaches. Wake up early, get some morning sunlight, and you'll see a big difference.
