Can too much salt cause kidney stones?

My husband has kidney stones, and the doctor told him to watch his salt intake. I love namkeen and salty snacks, and use a lot of salt in my cooking. Can having too much salt also cause kidney stones?

Yes, absolutely. High sodium intake forces your kidneys to excrete more calcium, which then binds with oxalates to form stones. Cut down on packaged junk and processed foods immediately.

With PCOS, I have to be very careful with my diet and water retention. High salt can definitely strain your kidneys and increase the risk of stones, so I try to avoid extra pickles and papad. Hope you feel better soon.

Haan babuji, jyada namak khane se sharir me pathri ban sakti hai. Humare yahan kehte hain ki khane me namak humesha kam rakhna chahiye aur khoob saara paani peena chahiye.

When we are busy, we eat a lot of processed outside food which is loaded with sodium and leads to kidney stones. Stick to fresh home meals and carry a water bottle to keep flushing out toxins.

Look, eating extra salt on salads and overdoing pickles will eventually trouble your kidneys. Stop putting extra salt in everything, and drink at least 3 liters of water daily to clear out your system.
