Can too much fiber cause stomach pain?

My nutritionist advised me to increase my fiber intake, so I've been eating a lot of whole grains and veggies. But now I'm getting constant stomach pain and bloating. Is it possible that too much fiber can cause these issues?

Actually yes yaar, it happens. I started eating oats and raw salads every single day to be healthy, and my stomach got so bloated and cramped. You have to go slow with fiber, otherwise pet ki vaat lag jaati hai.

My grandmother always used to say that any sudden change in diet upsets the stomach fire. But when my stomach ache didn't go away for three days, I went to our family doctor who explained that high fiber without enough water causes blockages. Please drink plenty of warm water throughout the day.

Be careful with this. I ignored severe abdominal pain thinking it was just fiber and gas, but it turned out to be a bowel obstruction that required medical intervention. If your pain is sharp, constant, or accompanied by vomiting, please consult a gastroenterologist immediately.

Oh absolutely! Too much fiber too fast acts like a traffic jam in your gut. Just drink lots of water and give your tummy a little rest for a couple of days, you will be totally fine! 😊

This is why I stick to my regular dal chawal! I tried those fancy multigrain breads and high-fiber cookies once, and my stomach was in absolute knots. Our traditional home-cooked food is actually much gentler on the system.

I panicked so badly last month thinking I had appendicitis because of the sharp left-side pain. Turns out it was just gas from the massive bowl of papaya and flaxseeds I had. Once the gas passed, the pain vanished, so don't worry too much.

Bro, I went full vegan last year and loaded up on beans and sprouts. My stomach was constantly cramping up and paining. Cut down the fiber by half and drink a gallon of water, it works.

No need to eat raw oats and high-fiber powders. Just stick to regular seasonal fruits and well-cooked green veggies. If you are adding high-fiber foods, do it slowly over two weeks and drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily.

I have faced this many times when trying to eat healthy. Try drinking lukewarm water with a pinch of hing (asafoetida) and black salt, or chewing on some fennel seeds (saunf) after eating. It relaxes the stomach muscles and releases the trapped gas very quickly.

I completely understand what you are going through, it is so frustrating when you try to eat healthy and end up in severe pain. I used to cry thinking something was seriously wrong with my digestion. Please don't be hard on yourself, just reduce the raw veggies for a few days.
