Can too much exercise cause thyroid problems?

I train quite rigorously for marathons, sometimes twice a day. Lately, I've been feeling constantly tired and gained some weight, and my friend suggested it might be my thyroid. Can too much exercise actually mess with your thyroid hormones?

At my age, walking to the local market feels like enough exercise! Honestly though, if you do extreme workouts without resting, it can mess up your hormones and stress your thyroid. Don't punish your body, keep it moderate and enjoy life.

I totally get it, when we are trying to stay fit, we sometimes push ourselves too hard. Overtraining can spike your cortisol, which directly interferes with thyroid hormone production. Try to schedule some rest days and consult an endocrinologist to check your levels.

If you are doing heavy workouts, your body needs proper nutrition, especially enough healthy fats and proteins. Under-eating while over-exercising can trigger thyroid issues. Make sure you are nourishing your body well and getting blood tests done regularly.

Hello, I recently started high-intensity workouts and have been feeling very fatigued. Is it possible that my thyroid is affected by this? If anyone has faced this, please let me know.

Oh wow, I thought exercise was always good for everything! But yes, extreme exhaustion can definitely mess with our hormones. Maybe take a relaxing break from the gym for a few days and see how you feel! 🌸

Beta, excess of anything is bad. Running on the treadmill for hours without proper rest puts too much stress on the delicate endocrine system. Please consult a doctor, get a simple TSH blood test, and keep your workouts limited to 45 minutes.
