Can too much caffeine cause a heart attack?

I drink a lot of coffee throughout the day to stay productive, easily 5-6 cups. My uncle recently had a heart attack and mentioned I should cut back on caffeine. Is it true that too much caffeine can actually cause a heart attack?

Excessive caffeine can seriously spike your heart rate and blood pressure, which isn't good. I prefer focusing on light cardio or a simple walk to keep my heart healthy naturally, of course, if your doctor clears you for exercise. Keep the energy drinks and black coffee to a minimum.

I agree, too much caffeine can cause severe palpitations and anxiety. It is always better to limit your daily tea or coffee to just one or two small cups.

I used to drink three mugs of black coffee during my college exams and my heart would beat so fast I could hear it. It was so scary! I realized it is just not worth the risk. Please reduce your intake and try to get proper sleep instead.

I had severe heart palpitations and had to be rushed to the emergency room last year after consuming multiple pre-workout drinks. It was a massive wakeup call for me. Please do not take this lightly and consult a doctor right away if you are feeling any chest discomfort.

Beta, I have seen many young kids drinking 4-5 cups of strong coffee or energy drinks nowadays. This puts a lot of pressure on the heart and causes restlessness. Please cut down on the caffeine and drink warm water or fresh buttermilk instead.

While caffeine alone rarely causes a heart attack in healthy individuals, it can certainly trigger dangerous arrhythmias or worsen underlying heart conditions. It's highly subjective and depends on your tolerance. Consulting a cardiologist is definitely the best approach to understand your personal risk.

Any kind of chest tightness or racing heart after drinking coffee should not be ignored. It might not be a direct heart attack, but you must get your heart health and blood pressure checked by a doctor immediately to be completely safe.
