Can tmj cause tooth pain?

I've been getting this unexplained toothache on and off, but my dentist says there's no cavity or gum issue. He mentioned it could be my TMJ acting up. Can TMJ disorder really manifest as tooth pain?

Yes, jaw alignment issues can put extra pressure on your teeth and cause severe pain. For temporary relief, you can try applying a warm compress on the cheek or gently rinsing with warm salt water. But please get a proper dental checkup done to see if you need a mouth guard.

Actually it does, especially if you clench your teeth during heavy lifts like deadlifts. I used to get terrible molar pain till my dentist pointed out it was TMJ strain. Now I focus on keeping my jaw relaxed during workouts and eat soft, high-protein meals when it flares up.

Haan, it absolutely can. Before spending a lot of money on expensive dental treatments, just notice if you are grinding your teeth at night. Sometimes simply sleeping on your back instead of your side and avoiding chewing hard things like chana or supari makes a big difference.

It definitely does, and it's called referred pain. You feel like the tooth is decaying, but the dentist will find absolutely nothing wrong with the teeth themselves. Save yourself some time and consult a TMJ specialist or a maxillofacial surgeon directly instead of doing random fillings.

I feel your pain, I tried everything from clove oil to ice packs thinking it was a normal toothache. Nothing worked because the root cause was jaw clenching due to stress. My advice is to stop googling home remedies and ask a doctor about a night guard, it saved my teeth.

Hamare yahan bhi ek bhai ko aisi takleef thi, wo samajhta raha daant kharab hai. Par jab bade sheher ke doctor ko dikhaya toh pata chala jaw ki nasein dabi hui hain. Aap bilkul chinta mat karo, thoda garm paani se sek lo aur achhe doctor se jaanch karwa lo.

I lived with this for two years thinking I had multiple cavities. The constant pressure from jaw misalignment mimics tooth pain perfectly. My tip is to avoid chewing gum entirely and try facial massage to loosen the masseter muscle. Definitely get a dentist to check your bite.
