Can tmj cause neck pain?

I was recently diagnosed with TMJ, and I've also been having a lot of neck stiffness and pain. My doctor said these two might be related. Can TMJ disorder really cause pain in the neck region?

Bro, my neck was constantly stiff and I thought it was just from gaming too much. Turns out I was clenching my jaw like crazy because of TMJ. Once my dentist gave me a night guard, my neck pain literally cut down by half. Get your jaw checked, man.

Hey, don't stress too much about this, it is actually super common! The jaw and neck muscles are so close that tension in one always spills over to the other. Just try to use a hot water bottle on your neck tonight and talk to your dentist when you get a chance.

With my PCOS, I already deal with muscle inflammation, so when neck pain started, I was worried. My doctor explained that TMJ muscle spasms can easily radiate to the neck. Since everyone's pain triggers are different, it is best to consult a specialist to find the right path.

Yes, they are totally connected! When your jaw is tight, your neck has to work double-time to support your head. Try some simple, gentle neck stretches and don't forget to smile and relax that jaw! Hope you feel better soon!

I just got over a bad phase of this last month. My neck was so stiff I couldn't turn my head, and it was entirely due to my TMJ flaring up. Doing jaw relaxation exercises and using warm compresses daily really saved me. Definitely look into getting your jaw treated.

While there is a clear anatomical connection between TMJ and neck muscles, persistent neck pain can also indicate cervical spine issues. Please do not assume it is only TMJ. Get a proper clinical evaluation from a qualified healthcare professional to be safe.

Chewing tough food can really worsen TMJ tension and make your neck pain worse. I suggest sticking to a soft, warm vegetarian diet like khichdi or mashed dal-rice for a few days to let the jaw rest. Do consult a doctor for a proper diagnosis.
