Can tirzepatide cause elevated liver enzymes?

My recent blood tests showed slightly elevated liver enzymes, and I've been taking tirzepatide for some time now. My doctor asked if I'm taking any new medicines. Could this drug be the reason for my elevated liver enzymes?

It can sometimes happen, but it is best not to panic. Many people see their liver enzymes change slightly when losing weight or starting new meds. Just talk to your doctor and they will guide you.

I am also quite new to this and a bit nervous about starting. Is it common to have liver tests done before we begin the medication? I would really appreciate if someone could share how often we need to get these checked.

With my thyroid issues, I have learned the hard way that any strong medication needs careful monitoring. Tirzepatide can sometimes affect liver enzymes, especially during rapid weight loss. You must get regular LFT (liver function test) done every few months as advised by your doctor to stay safe.

Hey, don't stress too much about this right now! Sometimes our body just takes a little time to adjust to new things. Just mention it to your doctor during your next chat and let them do a quick blood check to be absolutely sure everything is fine. Take it easy!

Actually, some clinical trials do show mild, transient changes in liver enzymes, though often they actually improve as you lose fat. I track all my lab reports on my health app to see the trends. Best thing is to get a baseline liver panel done now and log it, then retest in a month.
