Can thyroid raise blood pressure?

My blood pressure has been creeping up lately, and my doctor is looking into causes. I also have a history of thyroid issues in my family. Can an overactive or underactive thyroid actually lead to increased blood pressure?

My BP was shooting up and I thought it was just my toddler keeping me awake till 3 AM! Turns out my thyroid was acting crazy. Definitely get a blood panel done before you blame your hectic life for high BP.

Yes, it absolutely can. Both hypo and hyperthyroidism affect your heart rate and blood vessel elasticity, which directly impacts blood pressure. Get both checked together instead of treating them as isolated issues.

I have been feeling really restless lately and my BP reading came back slightly high. My doctor mentioned checking thyroid levels next week. Has anyone else here experienced sudden high BP because of their thyroid?

Thyroid and BP often go hand in hand. A practical way is to keep a digital BP monitor at home and note down readings morning and evening for a week. Take this log to your doctor so they can adjust your thyroid dosage properly.

Yes, we noticed erratic blood pressure fluctuations in my teenage daughter before she was diagnosed with thyroid issues. Once the doctor started her on thyroid medication, her blood pressure naturally stabilized. Please monitor both closely.

I literally just got my reports sorted last month. My systolic BP was touching 140 due to uncontrolled hyperthyroidism. Now that my thyroid levels are back to normal with medication, my BP has dropped back to a perfect 120/80.

Beta, thyroid problems can definitely disturb your blood pressure. Along with the doctor's medicines, try to reduce salt in your diet and practice slow deep breathing for fifteen minutes daily. Keep your mind calm and don't take tension.

I have managed both thyroid and BP for ten years now. When thyroid hormones are low, your blood vessels can get stiff, raising your diastolic pressure. Make sure you get your thyroid checked every six months to keep your BP under control.

Since I have PCOS, hormonal imbalances often trigger other issues like thyroid and mild BP spikes. It is all connected, but please consult a doctor for a proper diagnosis instead of worrying. Taking stress will only raise your BP further.

At 55, my body feels like a vehicle with multiple warning lights blinking at once! Thyroid went up, and BP followed it like a loyal friend. A doctor's visit and a daily tiny pill sorted both of them out, thankfully.

While you must take your doctor's prescribed medicines for thyroid and BP, drinking warm coriander seed water in the morning helps soothe the system. But don't rely only on home tips if your BP is very high; get it checked by a doc immediately.

There is a well-established medical link between thyroid dysfunction and secondary hypertension. However, rather than self-diagnosing, you should consult an endocrinologist to see if managing the thyroid will resolve the blood pressure issues.
