Can thyroid problems cause sleep problems?

I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately, either I can't fall asleep or I wake up multiple times. I also have a thyroid condition that was diagnosed last year. Could my thyroid problems be affecting my sleep cycle?

Yes, thyroid issues definitely mess with your sleep. I track my sleep on my smartwatch, and my deep sleep score was terrible before my hyperthyroidism was treated. Once my thyroid levels stabilized, my sleep quality improved significantly on the app charts.

I used to lie awake till 4 AM crying because I was so exhausted but my body just wouldn't fall asleep due to my thyroid issue. It was so mentally draining, and I felt so alone. Please know that this is a very real symptom and it gets better with proper treatment.

My grandmother used to tell me to drink warm milk with nutmeg for my insomnia, which was soothing, but my doctor explained that my overactive thyroid was keeping my heart rate too fast to sleep. Trusting my doctor and taking the correct thyroid medication is what finally cured it.

Haan, both overactive and underactive thyroid can ruin your sleep cycle, na. Either you feel too restless to sleep or you want to sleep all day but still wake up tired. Just talk to your doctor and get your thyroid levels balanced.

Do not buy random sleeping pills or herbal sleep teas from online ads. If your sleep issues are caused by a thyroid imbalance, only an endocrinologist can fix it by adjusting your hormone levels. Go get a proper prescription.

Bro, I thought my bad sleep was just because of college exam stress and late-night gaming. Turns out my thyroid was acting up. If you are struggling to sleep despite being dead tired, definitely get a blood test done.
