Can thyroid medication cause brown spots on skin?

Since starting my thyroid medication a few months ago, I've noticed some new brown spots developing on my skin, especially on my face. Could this be a side effect of the thyroid medicine, or should I be worried about something else?

I have not noticed brown spots from thyroid meds, but hormonal imbalances in general can cause skin pigmentation. If you have diabetes too, sometimes insulin resistance causes dark patches, so do get a complete checkup.

Oh dear, skin changes can be so stressful to deal with! Actually, thyroid hormone changes can cause melasma or dry patches, which look like brown spots. Please don't worry, but definitely show it to a dermatologist to ease your mind.

My daughter had some skin discoloration when we first started her thyroid treatment. The doctor told us it was due to the body adjusting to the hormone levels, not the medicine itself. It faded after a few months, so keep patience.

Hey, don't stress too much about those spots! It might just be sun exposure or minor hormonal shifts rather than the actual medication. Try using a good sunscreen and mention it to your doctor next time you visit.

Before you spend thousands on expensive skin creams, just get a basic TSH and vitamin deficiency test done. Sometimes low B12 or iron causes spots, and finding the root cause through cheap tests is much more sensible.

Don't believe anyone online saying a specific herb or home pack will cure these spots. Skin pigmentation can be due to a lot of medical reasons, so go to a proper dermatologist instead of trying DIY hacks.

My face has so many dark circles from no sleep that I wouldn't even notice brown spots honestly! But jokes aside, thyroid fluctuations do weird things to skin. Just consult your doctor instead of losing sleep over it.

Haan na, skin issues are so annoying. Actually, thyroid imbalance itself causes pigmentation, not necessarily the daily tablet. Better to ask your doctor to check your thyroid levels again to see if they are normal.
