Can thyroid lead to heart attack?

My doctor told me that my thyroid levels are a bit high, and he mentioned something about it affecting the heart. I'm worried because my father had heart issues. Can an untreated thyroid condition actually increase the risk of a heart attack?

Look, if you leave severe thyroid untreated for years, it can mess with your cholesterol and heart rate. I had crazy palpitations when my TSH was sky-high. But once I got on meds, everything went back to normal, so chill and get tested.

At my age, we worry about these things a lot. I have had hypothyroidism for thirty years and my heart is doing perfectly fine. The secret is just regular medication and not letting your thyroid levels remain abnormal for too long.

Oh, I completely understand how terrifying this thought is, as I used to stay up late googling the exact same thing. But trust me, thyroid only increases heart risks if it's completely ignored for a very long time. You are safe if you are getting treated.

It can affect your cardiovascular health if untreated, but you can prevent it. Along with your regular prescription, some light cardio like a brisk walk for 25 minutes daily works wonders for heart health, provided your doctor clears you for it.

I recently had severe thyroid issues and my pulse rate was going up to 110 even while sitting. My cardiologist and endocrinologist worked together, adjusted my pills, and now my heart is perfectly healthy. Get your levels monitored on time.
