Can thyroid issues cause heart palpitations?

I've been experiencing very noticeable heart palpitations, like my heart is racing or fluttering, which is quite unsettling. My brother has a thyroid condition and mentioned he also had heart issues. Can thyroid problems cause heart palpitations?

I used to get sudden racing heartbeats, which was very scary. My tip is to avoid caffeine completely when your levels are high, and get a quick TSH test. Once my doctor reduced my thyroid medicine dose, my palpitations stopped completely.

An overactive thyroid can disturb the body's natural rhythm and cause the heart to race. Along with your regular medical checkups, practicing slow Anulom Vilom pranayama every morning helps calm the nervous system and steady the heartbeat.

Yes, when thyroid is not in control, it can cause the heart to flutter like a bird. Drinking cool water or taking slow, deep breaths can help soothe you in that moment, but you must let your doctor know about this symptom so they can check your medicine.

Heart palpitations are a serious symptom and shouldn't be ignored or treated with internet home remedies. It could be due to a thyroid storm or incorrect medication dosage. Go see an endocrinologist or a cardiologist immediately to get a proper ECG and blood work.

I have been feeling my heart suddenly beating so fast even when I am just sitting on the sofa. My thyroid was diagnosed recently and I am so scared. Has anyone else also felt these palpitations? Is it normal?

I had severe heart palpitations twenty years ago when my thyroid levels shot up. I panicked thinking it was a heart attack, but my doctor reassured me and adjusted my thyroid dose. Within a few weeks, my heart rate became completely normal again.

Yes, especially with hyperthyroidism, excess thyroid hormone speeds up your cardiac system, causing palpitations. If it's happening too often or accompanied by dizziness or chest pain, please visit the clinic immediately so the doctor can check your heart rate.
