Can thyroid affect heart rate?

My doctor told me I have a slightly overactive thyroid. I've also noticed my heart sometimes beats really fast; can thyroid issues actually affect your heart rate like that?

I had crazy heart palpitations last year and was convinced I was having a heart attack. Turns out my thyroid levels were just slightly high (hyperthyroidism). Once I started the thyroid meds my doctor gave me, my heart rate went back to completely normal, so don't panic!

Yes, the thyroid controls your body's metabolism, which directly impacts your heart rate. An overactive thyroid can make your heart race, while an underactive one can slow it down. It is very manageable with the right medication, so just get a blood test and see a doctor.

Look, thyroid issues definitely mess with your pulse rate. If your heart is beating too fast or skipping beats, don't ignore it. Go to a laboratory, get your TSH tested, and show the report to an endocrinologist instead of waiting.

My fitness tracker started showing my resting heart rate was consistently above 90 bpm, which prompted me to get blood work done. Turns out my thyroid was hyperactive. If you have a smartwatch, monitor your heart rate trends and share that data with your doctor.

At my age, any sudden heart flutter makes me think of my will, but my doctor told me it's just my fluctuating thyroid levels! It is amazing how one tiny gland in your neck can make your heart run like a local train. Get it tested, it's easily controllable.
