Can tension cause shoulder pain?

My shoulders have been constantly stiff and aching, especially after long days at work. I'm under a lot of pressure these days. Is it possible for emotional tension to cause shoulder pain?

Yes, my mother always says that we carry all our worries on our shoulders, which makes them stiff. While her warm sesame oil massages help a lot, I still believe consulting an orthopedic doctor is the best way to make sure there is no deep ligament strain.

I had severe shoulder pain and went to Max Hospital last month. The doctor clearly explained how stress hormones keep our trapezius muscles constantly contracted, causing pain. I highly recommend asking your doctor about physical therapy to release the tension safely.

Haan, dimaag ki chinta se sharir me dard hota hi hai. Thoda garm paani me sendha namak dalkar sek karne se kandhe ko bada aaram milta hai. Par dhyan rakhiyega, agar dard kandhe se lekar poore hath me bahe ya sunn ho jaye, toh turant doctor babu ko dikhana chahiye.

Tension does cause shoulder stiffness, but as someone who struggled for months, I'll suggest keeping an eye on your thyroid health too. Hypothyroidism often causes muscle aches and joint pain which we mistake for simple stress. Do get your regular blood tests done and consult your doctor.

It definitely can, but before you spend thousands on expensive MRI scans, try managing your stress and using a basic hot water bag at home. If the pain doesn't go away in a week, then plan for a doctor's visit and basic X-ray which is much cheaper and highly effective for initial diagnosis.

Yes, tension makes us stiffen our neck and shoulders without even realizing it. A very simple and cheap solution is to take a warm shower twice a day and do 5 minutes of basic shoulder rotations while sitting at your desk. It worked wonders for me during my hectic project days.

Absolutely, posture and stress are the twin evils of corporate life. Tension leads to sub-conscious shoulder shrugging which causes terrible knots. Stop overthinking, fix your workstation ergonomics, and if it still hurts, see a physio instead of ignoring it.
