Can tennis elbow cause shoulder and neck pain?

I've been suffering from severe tennis elbow for a while now, and recently I've also started getting pain in my shoulder and neck. Could these pains be connected? Can tennis elbow cause shoulder and neck pain?

Actually yaar, yes it can. When you have tennis elbow, you start moving your arm in weird angles to avoid hurting the elbow, which ends up straining your shoulder and neck. I had this issue last year because of continuous laptop work, and the entire right side of my upper body was jammed.

Haan, bilkul ho sakta hai. Jab ek jagah dard hota hai na, toh hum baki muscles ko zyada use karne lagte hain compensate karne ke liye. Usi wajah se shoulder aur neck pe pressure aata hai. Aap thoda rest lo aur deep heat lagao, par agar pain badhe toh doctor ko dikha lena.

I am experiencing the exact same thing right now and honestly, I am a bit scared. My elbow started hurting first and now my neck feels so stiff and painful. Has anyone else got relief from physiotherapy for this, or did you have to take strong medicines?

It definitely can because of kinetic chain compensation. When one joint is weak, others overwork. If your doctor allows, light mobility exercises for the neck and shoulder can prevent stiffness, but keep the elbow completely rested. Avoid heavy lifting till it heals.

Mera beta isse pareshan tha, humne haldi doodh aur halka sa garm sarso tel se kandhe ki sek ki thi toh aaram mila. Par dhyan rahe, agar gardan ghumane me bohot dikkat ho rahi hai ya hath me sunnpan (numbness) lag raha hai, toh bina deri kiye kisi acche doctor se milna chahiye.

Don't worry, this is quite common because our nerves and muscles from the neck down to the fingertips are all connected. Sometimes a pinched nerve in the neck actually causes pain that feels like tennis elbow. I would suggest you get it evaluated by an orthopedic doctor to find the exact root cause.
