Can teens get a heart attack?

My younger brother is only 17 and is a bit overweight. My mother is constantly worried about his health. Can teens get a heart attack, or is that something that only happens to older people?

While it is extremely rare for a teenager to have a heart attack, eating too much high-sodium junk and energy drinks can mimic cardiac pain through severe acidity. A balanced vegetarian diet with fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables keeps the digestive system and blood vessels healthy. If there is genuine pain, consult a doctor immediately.

I completely understand how terrifying it feels when you experience chest pain and start worrying about your heart. When I was 19, severe anxiety caused sharp chest tightness that felt like a heart attack. It is very painful and real, so please talk to your parents and get a doctor's checkup to put your mind at ease.

Honestly, a real heart attack in teens is super rare. Most of the time it's just bad gas or acid reflux from eating too many extra-spicy peri-peri fries or late-night pizzas. Try cutting back on the greasy street food for a few days, drink lots of water, and see if that chest tightness goes away.

I once ignored serious chest tightness thinking it was just a muscle pull, and it turned into a major health issue because I delayed treatment. Even if they are young, please do not ignore chest pain or breathing difficulties in teenagers. Get a proper medical checkup immediately to be absolutely safe.

Do not search for chest pain symptoms on internet forums or try random home remedies like drinking warm water or soda. If a teenager is experiencing actual crushing chest pain, sweating, or breathlessness, go straight to an emergency room or a cardiologist. Only a proper medical ECG can tell you what is actually wrong.
