Can teenagers get piles?

My 16-year-old son has been experiencing some discomfort and bleeding after using the washroom. He's too shy to talk much about it, but I'm concerned it might be piles. Can teenagers really get piles?

Yes, teenagers can get piles due to constant constipation and bad dietary habits. However, any bleeding or pain in the anal area should be checked by a doctor first to rule out fissures or other issues. Don't self-diagnose or delay the clinical checkup.

Teenagers get this mostly because of eating too much junk food and not taking enough fiber. Just like we manage blood sugar with fiber-rich food, teens need to eat fresh fruits and green vegetables to avoid hard stools. Make sure they drink lots of water and cut down on bakery items.

Yes, they absolutely can, especially with all the spicy street food and late-night gaming sessions! Just adding more green veggies to their plate and drinking enough water will make a huge difference. Don't let them feel embarrassed about it, it's very common!

I had this issue during my college days because of hostel food and zero physical activity. The best fix is adding oats, papaya, and a spoonful of Isabgol to your daily routine, and absolutely avoiding sitting on the toilet for too long with a phone. It takes a few weeks but it works.

As someone who loves spicy food, I know how bad digestion can get. Teenagers eating too much extra spicy momos or deep-fried food can easily get constipated, leading to piles. You don't have to stop eating out completely, just balance it with lots of water and fibrous salads.

My thyroid issue often causes severe constipation, which can lead to piles if not managed. Teenagers should get their thyroid and general health markers tested if constipation is a chronic problem. Don't let them suffer in silence, a quick visit to a doctor is the best step.

Hey, don't worry or feel awkward about this at all, it happens to a lot of teenagers. It's usually just because of less water and too much sitting. Tell them to walk a bit, eat fruits like papaya, and if it hurts a lot, just talk to a doctor calmly. We've got your back.
