Can tea tree oil help psoriasis scalp?

I have terrible psoriasis on my scalp and it's always itching and flaky. I read online that tea tree oil could provide some relief. Can tea tree oil really help with psoriasis on the scalp?

My dermatologist explicitly told me that while tea tree oil has antimicrobial benefits, psoriasis is an inflammatory condition. She warned that raw tea tree oil can cause contact dermatitis on an already inflamed scalp. She suggested using a coal tar shampoo instead for better, safer results.

Managing scalp issues requires a very steady approach, just like managing my high BP. Tea tree oil might reduce the scaling a bit, but it won't cure psoriasis. Please go for regular clinical checkups with a dermatologist rather than just self-treating at home.

I used to panic every time my scalp flared up and tried every oil under the sun, which made it itch like crazy. Eventually, I realized that keeping the scalp moisturized with basic coconut oil works best. Don't worry, scalp psoriasis is very manageable once you stop stressing and stick to simple care.

I have thyroid issues which makes my skin and scalp extremely dry and prone to irritation. Psoriasis needs systematic monitoring and proper doctor follow-ups, not just topical oils. Make sure you get regular blood panels done to see if any underlying hormone imbalance is triggering it.

I totally feel your pain, a flaky and itchy scalp is so frustrating and embarrassing. Tea tree oil can help soothe the itch, but make sure to mix just a tiny drop of it with a lot of warm coconut oil. Don't apply it directly, otherwise it will burn your scalp.
